Other companies claim to have "handmade strings" for guitar and
bass, yet, their factories are full of automated
machines making strings. Our strings are the real thing.
We do not have a large factory full of machines churning
out strings that nobody ever hears or tests before being
sold to you. People make our strings, and they are proud of their
craft. Their goal is to bring you the finest string for
your instrument. Period.
Fat Metals strings have that handcrafted quality for
players seeking premium performance on an affordable
budget. These strings are individually hand tested for
proper gauging and tone articulation. Each string is
individually labeled and packaged to ensure you get
outstanding tone without paying a premium price.
Tuned Core Process (TCP)
All Fat Metals strings are handcrafted with our Tuned
Core Process (TCP). The core wire of our
wound strings is tested for tone, pitch, and
clarity...by human ear! Unlike mass produced strings, we
do not rely upon the core wire tension to produce
quality tone. Think about it for a moment...just because
a guitar string can be pulled to certain tension does
not mean it will sound good. This is why we take things
a step further for you. As the string is manually wound,
we listen to each core wire tuned to a specific pitch.
If it does not have clean pitch and tone, it is tossed
in the trash. We have humans, NOT MACHINES,
listen to our strings as they are handcrafted and
shipped to you. This ensures you get a string that
sounds its very best. Check out the video below to see
how we do it.
All Fat Metals strings are
handcrafted with our Tuned Core
Technology (TCT). Why buy strings nobody
has actually heard before leaving the
factory?
Our top of the line string. They are wound for the most
demanding guitarists who require excellence in each set
of strings. The skilled artistry that goes into creating
each of our strings guarantees impeccable quality. Our
Scholar series strings are handcrafted and individually
tested for tone, pitch, and clarity. Each string is
individually labeled and packaged to ensure you get
premium performance. The Scholar series strings have a
signature copper tail winding on them that designates
the mark of hand craftsmanship that no machine could
ever replace.
What is a copper tailed string? It is a copper wrap wire
near the ball-end that has long been a signature part of
our handcrafted string construction. The copper tail
first appeared in our Elite series of strings, and was
quadruple hand wrapped integral to the core wire. In
certain guitar tone applications, it served as a micro
electrical coil. It soon became popular with many of our
customers and a patent was applied for as the popularity
grew. The Elite series also included a copper head at
the opposite end in lieu of a decorative silk wrap. Over
the years, the handcrafted copper tail and copper head
have been used to establish different performance
characteristics of the string. This included tone,
amplification, and overall electrical signaling from the
string.
The Scholar series strings have a signature copper tail
winding on them that continues the mark of hand
craftsmanship that no machine could ever replace. The
Scholar series use a single wound copper tail that
provides a little “extra something” that other ordinary
guitar strings cannot deliver.
Professor String 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar
Strings
Our 80/20 bronze series of strings have that handcrafted
quality for acoustic players seeking premium performance
on an affordable budget. These strings feature a tuned
core that has been specially designed to work with our
bronze wrap wire. This means you get maximum vibrational
energy transfer with each note. Another feature is the
polymer coating on these strings. We have tested many
polymer coated strings in our lab and have found an
alloy/polymer combination that is transparent to the
pure tone of the string. These strings are individually
hand tested for proper gauging and tone articulation.
Each string is individually labeled and packaged to
ensure you get outstanding tone without paying a premium
price.
As a bassist, you will find Bass Fat Metals strings to
